Fannett is a small community located at the junction of State Highway 124 and Farm Road 365 in southeastern Texas. The town is 70 miles east of Houston and 15 miles south of Beaumont. According to the United State Census Bureau, there were approximately 105 people living in Fannett in 2000. Fannett is estimated to be one of the smallest communities in Jefferson County, Texas.

Fannett is named in honor of B.J. Fannett, an early land and business owner who opened the first general store in the town in the mid-1890s. After the general store was opened, Fannett opened a post office in 1899 with the help of his business partner Joe Dugal. The post office ceased operation in 1928. In 1927, oil was found in the area but Fannett remained a small community and continues to maintain a small population of people today. Fannett, Texas is located in a region of the United States that experiences very warm summers and mild winters. During the months of June, July, and August, daytime temperatures range from the upper-80s to low-90s. Precipitation is most common during the summer seasons.
